It Takes a Village

Which is why I voted for Obama over Hillary.
This was done with that handy dandy new technique I picked up at one of our guild meetings. Paper Piecing with freezer paper and an iron. Rather than sewing through the paper and distorting your stitches when you pull them out, just fold freezer paper back and sew near the fold. Works like a charm, but I still think all paper piecing is a pain the you know where.

The Diane Gaudynski Class that Never Was

I had signed up to take a class on machine quilting with Diane Gaudynski (See Quilters can be name droppers too!). She cancelled due to illness, so what to do with the little sample requirement that I made up to use in class? Throw some embroidery on it and make it into a pillow. (another cop out- notice the machine quilting is just boring meandering. Hey, it's not my fault. If I'd taken that class you would see near trapunto like feathers and curves.)

Learned to Rotary Cut in '03

Believe it or not this king size quilt is the result of learning how to rotary cut in 2003, and then being too afraid to do anything with all the strips I cut out. Then in the summer of 2007 in anticipation of company from Australia I pulled out all of the strips I had so carefully hung from hangers by safety pins and made this quilt to spruce up the guest room.
